Research Statement

My primary field of interest is medieval intellectual history, but I have published in patristics, the history of law, the history of sexuality, Church history, and on many modern topics in philosophy, theology, political thought and cultural criticism. The two books I am working on presently are a two volume history of sodomy in the middle ages, and a book on "The Turn to Transcendence" in modern music, architecture, painting and political thought.
