The study examines the evolution of New York based mining corporation, Cerro de Pasco. It operated the third largest miming operation in the world. Cerro de Pasco, located in the Andes above Lima, Peru, produced multiple metals that made the New York company a very profitable enterprise. The company also provided revenue for the Peruvian state. From the start, the mining operation was an international effort, relying on engieers, managers and skilled workers from the United States, Peru, Great Britain and English-speaking polities around the globe. It drew capital from global markets, sold to global markets and embodied the expansion of United States corporate power across the globe. It surmounted immense technological and terrain challenges to build and sustain this operation in the Andes. Eventually, the Peruvian governmant nationalized the Andean operation in 1974
